Bel Air


Bel Air (not Bel-Air) is a small highly affluent residential community within the Westside of Los Angeles, which together with Holmby Hills and Beverly Hills forms what is known as the Platinum Triangle of Los Angeles. Bel Air is bordered by Brentwood on the west and southwest, Westwood on the south, and Sherman Oaks on the north. It is just north of UCLA. Parts of Bel Air are in the foothills of the Santa Monica Mountains. Bel Air consists of three different neighborhoods: Upper Bel Air, East Gate Old Bel Air, and West Gate Bel Air.

Many of the communities located in Bel Air are members of The Federation of Hillside and Canyon Associations.

Bel-Air Association

The Bel-Air Association, established in 1942, is a voluntary association dedicated to maintaining the beauty of Bel Air and the lifestyle and property values of its residents. The Bel-Air Association office is located at 100 Bel-Air Road in Los Angeles, 90077.


Bel-Air Country Club

Bel-Air Country Club, established in 1927, is a private, upscale social club that offers an 18 hole golf course designed by William P. Bell and numerous tennis courts. The exclusive club is located in the Bel Air section of Los Angeles. The golf course is consistently ranked as one of the best courses in California. Members have included Arnold Palmer and President Ronald Reagan.


Platinum Triangle

The Platinum Triangle is the name of the area that includes the three highly affluent Westside communities of Beverly Hills, Holmby Hills, and Bel Air. The Platinum Triangle, in Los Angeles County and the Los Angeles Basin, is an area of large estates, high property values, and wealthy residents.


East Gate Bel Air

East Gate Bel Air, also known as old Bel Air, is a small highly affluent neighborhood within the Bel Air section of Los Angeles adjacent to Holmby Hills. The community was developed by Alphonzo E. Bell, Sr. starting in 1923 and is made up of large luxury estates. Residents have included John Anderson, Stephen Bollenback, Sonny Bono and Cher, Johnny Carson, Marion Davies, Michael Eisner, Judy Garland, Alfred Hitchcock, Howard Hughes, Carole Lombard, Dean Martin, Louis Mayer, Tyrone Power, Elvis Presley, Prince Rainer of Monaco, Ronald and Nancy Reagan, Johnny Weissmuller, and Brian Wilson. East Gate Bel Air represents the highest concentration of wealth in California and possibly in the United States.


De Neve Square Park

De Neve Square Park is a small, beautiful park in the Holmby Hills neighborhood of Los Angeles adjacent to East Gate Bel Air. The park is named after Felipe de Neve, a former Spanish governor of Alta California during the period of Spanish control.


West Gate Bel Air

West Gate Bel Air refers to the section at the west gate which is located at the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and Bellagio Road.


Upper Bel Air

Upper Bel Air refers to the homes in the northern section of Bel Air at the north gate entrance of Roscomare Road. These homes are quite beautiful, but tend to be smaller than the homes in the lower areas of Bel Air. Many of these homes have excellent views.


Bel Air Film Festival

The Bel Air Film Festival is an annual international film festival held in the Bel Air community of Los Angeles. The festival honors films in the following classifications: Drama, Comedy, Fashion, Animation, Documentaries, Music Video, Foreign Films, and Shorts.


Stone Canyon Reservoir

Upper Store Canyon Reservoir

Stone Canyon Reservoir and Upper Stone Canyon Reservoir are adjacent reservoirs, built in 1952, in the community of Bel Air which is part of the city of Los Angeles and the Westside. The two reservoirs supply water to parts of West Los Angeles, Pacific Palisades, and homes in the Santa Monica Mountains.
