Mission San Fernando Rey de Espaņa
Mission San Fernando Rey de Espaņa was founded in 1797 as a Spanish Mission in what is now Mission Hills, a community in Los Angeles. It was named by the Spanish for Saint Ferdinand. Both the city of San Fernando and the San Fernando Valley were named after the mission. The mission was secularized in 1834 and returned to the Catholic Church in 1861. After falling into despair, the mission was restored in the 1940s from a generous gift provided by the Hearst Foundation. The mission grounds currently serve as a museum and are definitely worth visiting. The mission is located at 15151 San Fernando Mission Boulevard.
Romulo Pico Adobe - Mission Hills

In 1965, the property was purchased by the City of Los Angeles. The exterior and grounds are maintained by the Los Angeles Department of Parks and Recreation. The interior is managed by the San Fernando Valley Historical Society which operates a museum which is open to the public. The adobe is also available for weddings and private parties.
