Tarzana is an affluent community in the southern San Fernando Valley which is located within the City of Los Angeles. Tarzana is north of Topanga State Park, east of Woodland Hills, west of Encino, and south of Reseda. The south side of Tarzana is located in the foothills of the Santa Monica Mountains. The population is currently just under 40,000.

While Ventura Boulevard is a major commercial boulevard, most of Tarzana consists of residential neighborhoods.

The community of Tarzana was named after the character Tarzan who was created by author Edgar Rice Burroughs, who was an early settler and subdivider of land in the area.

The trailhead to the 1,500 acre Marvin Braude Mulholland Gateway Park is at the southern end of Reseda Boulevard in Tarzana.

 

Tarzana Property Owners Association

The Tarzana Property Owners Association is a voluntary association of individuals who own property in Tarzana which is part of Los Angeles. The mission of the association is "to preserve and enhance the quality of life for residents of our community." The association holds elections annually and is managed by a board of directors.

Tarzana Community and Cultural Center

The Tarzana Community and Cultural Center is a non-profit organization established in Tarzana in 2002. The center was created in order to provide a beautiful garden setting for educational and community programs designed to improve life. The Tarzana Community Center is used by the Woodland Hills-Tarzana Chamber of Commerce, the Tarzana Property Owners Association, Neighborhood Council, and many other worthwhile gatherings and events. The center is also home to the Tarzana Museum and History Committee which collects, documents, and displays photographs, writings, and other valuable memorabilia related to the community of Tarzana.

 

Tarzana Recreation Center

The Tarzana Recreation Center features a child care center, picnic areas, basketball gym, children's play area, outdoor basketball courts, and baseball fields. The facility is maintained and operated by the Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks.

 

Braemer Country Club

Braemer Country Club offers a private 27-hole championship golf course, tennis club, fitness center, and social club. It is located in Tarzana, high in the Santa Monica Mountains. There are excellent views of the San Fernando Valley from Braemar.

 

El Caballero Country Club

El Caballero Country Club offers a private championship golf course, tennis courts, fitness center, and first class dining facilities. The club is located in Tarzana, at the foot of the Santa Monica Mountains. The golf course was designed by architect Robert Trent Jones, Sr. and was opened in 1957.

 

Providence Tarzana Medical Center

Providence Tarzana Medical Center, established in 1973, is a private 245 bed non-profit hospital in Tarzana which is in the south central San Fernando Valley region of Los Angeles. The hospital provides services in the following areas: Diabetes, Emergency Services, Oncology, Surgery, Cardiology, Orthopedics, and more. The hospital is owned by Providence Health & Services which also owns the Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Burbank and the Providence Holly Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills.

 

Encino - Tarzana Public Library

The Encino - Tarzana Public Library is part of the Los Angeles Public Library System. It includes a children's area, teen area, study rooms, and lots of computers. It is a great place to visit.

 

Woodland Hills-Tarzana Chamber of Commerce

The Woodland Hills-Tarzana Chamber of Commerce serves its member businesses in Woodland Hills, Tarzana, and the surrounding San Fernando Valley communities, including Calabasas, West Hills, Malibu, and Warner Center.

Corbin Canyon Park

Corbin Canyon Park is an 80 acre nature preserve in Tarzana at the south end of Corbin Avenue. The park is home to bobcats, coyotes, rabbits, and many types of birds. The beautiful canyon park is covered with mature oak trees and walnut trees. It includes a stream and extensive hiking trails. Corbin Canyon Park is a great place to visit and is one of the San Fernando Valley's greatest natural assets.

 

Caballero Canyon Trail

The Caballero Canyon Trailhead is on Reseda Boulevard about four miles south of Ventura Boulevard in Tarzana on the northern edge of the Santa Monica Mountains. The 3.4 mile round-trip trail is open to both hikers and bikes. Marvin Braude Mulholland Gateway Park is on the eastern side of the trail. The scenery and views of the San Fernando Valley are absolutely beautiful.
