The University of Phoenix (UOPX), founded in 1976, is a for-profit institution with more than 112 campuses including Gardena, Woodland Hills in the San Fernando Valley, Lancaster in the Antelope Valley, Costa Mesa and La Palma in Orange County, Ontario in San Bernardino County, and Pasadena in the San Gabriel Valley. Online courses are also offered. The university offers more than 100 degree programs through seven colleges and two schools, plus numerous continuing education courses for teachers, practitioners, and people wanting to improve their skills and education. UOPX is a wholly owned subsidiary of Apollo Group, Inc. which is publicly traded on the NASDAQ.
